How to journal when you feel lost or frustrated

Every time you feel lost or overwhelmed, pick up your journal. It’s okay to write about the crummy things you’re feeling.

But then, intentionally document your joy. I call it Joy Journaling. And today, I want to show you how I do it. It's my secret key for transforming those less-than-fabulous days into something joyful.

In this workshop video, I'm using:

I also suggest a couple other great Joy Journals:

Workshop notes:

Jeanette Rankin was the first female elected to the United States Congress in 1916 ... four years before women were granted the right to vote in the 19th Amendment!

She became my hero in fifth grade, as I learned about her conviction to vote for what she deeply believed, not what the rest of Congress, the press, society, or even her family told her to do. I dressed up like her. I marched around my classroom with a sign that read, "Votes for women!"

Then I discovered her journal. It changed everything.

You see, in the pages of that journal, I discovered a woman with ordinary struggles and pains. I found a woman who began with humble beginnings, often feeling lost and scared.
